"3k" is the number of filaments or bundle size. It just means that each "bundle" of carbon fibers woven into the cloth consists of 3,000 individual carbon filaments. Larger quantities (6k, 12k, etc.) mean thicker carbon-fiber "bundles" and hence thicker fabrics
